Ted Betts — teacher, artist and champion of the Patapsco Valley Greenway passed away suddenly on Saturday, June 26, 2010.
—
I met Teddy through his passion for creating rock sculptures along the Patapsco River. We spent some time hiking & paddling the Patapsco, discussing the environment, public education & involvement with nature and each’s personal walks in that. Teddy had a deep love & gift in his abilities to express & pass on his respect and passion for the Patapsco Watershed through stream cleanups, talks, walking & paddling tours. His beautifull, intuitive water rock sculptures could be found all along the river, even in the remotest of spots — always a treasure & celebration of nature’s wonder. It was a privilege to have shared some thoughts & experiences with him. His presence in this environment will be deeply missed, the ripples of his care & endeavors echo profoundly.
